I am the Art teacher and Library facilitator at Christ the King. This is my first year teaching here, and I'm excited to get to know the students, staff, and the community. I grew up on a farm near Silverton, Oregon. During my college career, I took a break to pursue mission work with NET Ministries for two years. I had a wonderful experience traveling to help lead retreats for middle schoolers and high schoolers. I continued on to get a Bachelor's in Art and Design at Western Oregon University. From there I was an art teacher for two years at Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame in Spokane, Washington. In my free time, some things I enjoy are reading, painting, hiking, and running. I look forward to helping our students grow as artists and to discover ways that God speaks to us through beauty.
YEARS COMPLETED AT CTK: 2
YEARS IN EDUCATION: 5
TRAINING: Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design from Western Oregon University. I'm currently in a Master of Arts in Teaching program at George Fox University.
FAVORITE SAINT: St. Joseph, I admire his humility and servant's heart, and I hope to imitate him in those ways. His care and protection of the Holy Family is a beautiful witness. He is a good friend and never lets me down!
MORE ABOUT ME: I grew up on a farm in Silverton, Oregon, and have a big family with many cousins. I was a missionary for two years and traveled to different states putting on retreats at middle schools and high schools. Some things I enjoy doing are reading, many different art forms, running, and hiking.
WHY I CHOSE TO TEACH AT CTK: Christ the King is a wonderful faith filled community, and I love being a part of it. Everyone from the students, families, and staff members, are a pleasure to work with. I appreciate how our Catholic faith is integrated into every subject and everything we do here. It is important to me that students learn about art and grow as artists, and it's a joy to help facilitate that.
