I am the fourth grade teacher and will be starting my eighth year here at CTK. I graduated from University of Portland with a BA in Elementary Education and a Reading Endorsement. I then earned an MED in Curriculum and Instruction from Trinity Washington University in Washington DC. I began my teaching career in DC as a volunteer teaching in an inner-city Catholic school. After two years, I returned to Portland and began teaching in the Archdiocese of Portland. I have taught first, fifth, and fourth grades. I find great joy in watching my students grow in their faith, in their academic abilities, and into responsible and independent young people. Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time with my husband and two boys going on bike rides, hiking, visiting amusement parks, and traveling.
YEARS COMPLETED AT CTK: 7 YEARS IN EDUCATION: 24 TRAINING: BA in Elementary Education: University of Portland, Portland, OR; MA Curriculum & Instruction: Trinity Washington University, Washington DC; Reading Endorsement: Portland State University, Portland, OR FAVORITE SAINT: One saint I admire is St. Teresa of Calcutta. Growing up, Mother Teresa, as I knew her, was an example to me of how to serve others selflessly. Her deep love for God was evident through ways she lived her life. From the way she spoke to those she served,to the kind actions she performed, to the simple smile she would give; this all showed her great love for God. In the words of St. Teresa of Calcutta, "Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless." MORE ABOUT ME: I am blessed with a supportive and loving family. My husband and two sons bring much happiness and love to my life. Together we enjoy going on bike rides, hiking, visiting amusement parks, and traveling. WHY I CHOOSE TO TEACH AT CTK: I am a product of Catholic education, first grade through college. My parents showed my sister and I the importance of having a relationship with God and also growing and nourishing it through prayer and attending Mass, just to name a few. I feel blessed each day to be able to share my faith with my students and help them to develop, grow, and nourish their relationship with God as I continue to do the same.
