I am grateful to be the third grade teacher here at Christ the King Parish School. Originally from Washington, I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA from the Program of Liberal Studies and a minor in Art History. I completed a MA in Literature from The American University and, later, a MAT in Elementary Education through Western Governors University.
I originally taught writing at the University of Southern Maine before choosing to stay at home to raise my children. Although I started teaching at the university level, during Covid and distance learning, I became immersed in grade school curriculum with my own children at home and decided to switch my focus to elementary education. I enjoyed serving as a substitute teacher here at CTK for several years before joining the staff full-time.
YEARS COMPLETED AT CTK: 2 YEARS IN EDUCATION: 10+ TRAINING: Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame: majoring in the Program of Liberal Studies and minoring in Art History; Master of Arts from The American University in Literature; Master of Arts in Teaching, Elementary Education from Western Governors University with Oregon state teaching certification. FAVORITE SAINT: Saint Padre Pio. I've been reading from a book of his collected letters and find his advice to be full of insight and compassion. MORE ABOUT ME: I have five children, three of whom currently attend Christ the King, and we are members of the parish here. I love reading, quilting, painting, and paddle boarding in my spare time. WHY I CHOOSE TO TEACH AT CTK: I choose to teach at CTK because of the authentically Catholic atmosphere, the availability of the sacraments, and the truly supportive community of teachers here. I also appreciate that I'm encouraged to be creative in the classroom at this school.
