I am the Learning Support Instructor, and it is a joy to be teaching and supporting the students at Christ the King Parish School. I have now been teaching at CTK for three and a half years. I have worked alongside primary school teachers for 12 years with an emphasis in reading fluency, spelling and writing intervention. During my years in education, I have been dedicated to applying my knowledge and professional experience in literacy intervention with students, and to guide them in having a growth mindset. I enjoy encouraging a love for reading and the art of writing with the vision of God’s beauty, truth, wisdom and love surrounding our learning. I graduated from Portland State University and have completed coursework in the Orton-Gillingham Approach for reading, spelling and writing. I worked in Public Relations before I knew that I was passionate about working in the education profession to teach lifelong learning strategies in literacy intervention for reading fluency, spelling and writing, as well as, the structure and content of the English Language. Here at Christ the King, it is a blessing and a joy to be teaching and supporting the students. Having the confidence and skill set to read, spell and write is important in anything you do in life. It is my goal to help our students find joy and wonder in their reading and writing, all while making progress and achieving success in their literacy skills. I am dedicated to encouraging students in their Catholic spiritual journey, academic journey, accomplishments, independence, and their growth mindset. I love to spend time with my family, run, cook, camp, read, listen to music and ballet dance. As a child and teen, I was a ballerina - which continues to be another passion of mine. I am so grateful for the opportunities that I have had to make a difference in a child’s life.
