Our overarching theme in Kindergarten
religion is being a child of God. Some lessons include: “The World’s a Gift from God” and “We are Friends of Jesus.” The students also explore the Bible and various seasons in the liturgical calendar.
In
science, we cover plants and animals, weather and climate, forces and interactions, and engineering design. In
math, the students learn to read, write, and count numbers to 100, addition, subtraction, measurement and data, and geometry.
Some topics we cover in
social studies are rules, timelines, needs and wants, holidays, maps and globes, presidents and patriots, rights and responsibilities, and money. The
language arts program includes daily reading, writing, and grammar.
The weekly
health lessons teach skills like empathy, emotion management, problem solving, healthy living and disease prevention.
