The art program at CTK aims to help each student grow as an artist and have a greater appreciation for art throughout history. All grades work to build up their skills and learn different tactics to help them draw accurately. Each grade has different projects and materials we focus on, including: nature drawings, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, clay works, collage, mosaics, and oil pastels.
A main focus in our program is to integrate the Church calendar into the art we look at and create. Many of our projects focus on feast days in the church and the liturgical season we are in. We also study art showing biblical imagery and stories of the saints. Through experiencing artistic beauty we aim to grow in our love for God and His church.
At CTK students learn to express their individual artistic voice, and show their personality through their work. Students learn how to share about their art with others and reflect on their process. This culminates in our school art show in the spring, that every student participates in.
